Moorhen news
I didn't actually get to see any moorhen chicks this morning, they are being kept cosy in the nest. It is interesting to see them still in the nest. With the first brood the chicks, they were out of the nest and onto the bank at Greenhill by day 2. This is day 4 for the new ones. I could only spot one juvenile moorhen at Greenhill this morning. Is that the answer? With so few surviving from the first brood, are the parents being extra careful with this brood and keeping them close a bit longer? Certainly there are plenty of crows waiting in the wings as well as one heron this morning.
